Jonathan Lopez, MD, FAAD, FACMS
Dr. Lopez grew up in Sarasota, Florida and attended Florida State University where he earned degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry (both summa cum laude) with minors in Mathematics and Biology. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and had the opportunity to study abroad in Valencia, Spain. He attended the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida where he served as class co-president all four years and was awarded admission into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed a scholarly concentration in research and received numerous awards including the Carol M. Petrucelli MD Outstanding Student in Dermatology Award, the Luther McEachern Memorial Award, admission to the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society, the Stephen K. Klasko Dean’s Award for Leadership, the American Medical Association Foundation Scholars Fund Award, and the Research Day Outstanding Poster Award.
After graduating medical school, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine in Chicago, Illinois and subsequently spent three years completing his Dermatology Residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. At the end of his residency he completed a one year fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology with the world renowned Drs. Randall Roenigk, Clark Otley, Christopher Arpey, Christian Baum, and Jerry Brewer. He is double board-certified with certifications in both Dermatology and Micrographic (Mohs) Dermatologic Surgery.
He has published and spoken extensively on Mohs Surgery, wound healing, reconstructive surgery, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, rare skin cancers, and management of complex skin cancers.
He and his wife have four children and live in Tampa. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, camping, traveling, and playing the guitar.
